Team Standup Picker Guide
A team standup picker helps meetings begin without the familiar pause of deciding who speaks first. It can choose speaking order, demo order, retrospective prompts, review topics, or small facilitation tasks. The wheel works best when the team agrees that the choice is low-stakes and everyone on the list is eligible.
Meeting uses
- Daily standup speaking order.
- Sprint demo or show-and-tell order.
- Retrospective prompt selection.
- Random review topic selection.
- Rotating facilitation tasks such as timekeeper or note-taker.
Remote-team tips
For distributed teams, share the wheel on screen so everyone sees the same result. Use short display names so labels remain readable. If a teammate is absent or cannot participate, remove them before spinning instead of skipping them after the result.
Reducing repeats
When everyone should get a turn before repeats happen, enable auto-remove winner or manually remove each selected teammate. For recurring meetings, the history tab can help you see recent selections and avoid overusing the same person.
Healthy meeting boundaries
A spinner should make routine meetings smoother, not put people on the spot for sensitive topics. Avoid using it for performance feedback, conflict discussions, hiring decisions, or anything where a thoughtful facilitator should choose the order deliberately.
